# Set Your Avatar Username and Public URL

> Choose an available avatar username, save it separately from chatbot settings, and manage your public wowagent.ai link.

Your **Avatar Username** identifies your assistant's public link. For example, saving the username `acme-helper` gives you `https://wowagent.ai/acme-helper`.

Open [Chatbot Management](https://portal.wowagent.ai/ai-agent), select your website, and find **Avatar Username** below **Bot Name** in **Bot Configuration**.

## Understand the three names

| Setting | What it controls | Example |

| **Bot Name** | The assistant name displayed in the conversation. | Acme Assistant |
| **Avatar Username** | The unique address of your public avatar page. | `acme-helper` |
| Selected 3D avatar | The model used to present the assistant. | Nexa, Zoya, or Kabir |

Changing the bot name or selecting another avatar does not change your saved username. Each website's assistant has its own username, and that username must be unique across WOWagent.

## Choose a valid username

* Use **3 to 40 characters**.
* Use lowercase English letters, numbers, hyphens (`-`), or underscores (`_`).
* Start and end with a letter or number.
* Do not include spaces, dots, slashes, or an `@` sign.
* Choose an available name. Reserved names such as `admin`, `api`, `pricing`, and `support` cannot be used.

The portal converts uppercase letters to lowercase and removes surrounding spaces when saving. Examples that match the format include `acme-helper`, `acme_support`, and `acme2026`; availability still needs to be checked.

## Save your username

**1. Enter the username**

Type your choice in **Avatar Username**. The address below the field previews the link for that entry.

**2. Wait for the availability check**

Wait for **Checking availability…** to finish. If the username is taken or reserved, choose another name. An available result does not reserve it yet.

**3. Use the Save button beside the field**

Click **Save** next to **Avatar Username**, or press Enter in the field after the check finishes. Wait until the field shows **Saved** and **Username saved.**

**4. Save the rest of your configuration**

Use the main **Save** button for your bot name, greeting, layout, and other settings. If you have edited the username again, save that field first.

>
> Saving the username saves only that field. It does not save your other draft settings or activate the widget. A saved avatar username is required before saving chatbot configuration or the appearance and behavior switches, including when you use Full Chatbot or Bar Only.

The **3D Avatar Shareable Link** panel uses the last successfully saved username. The address preview below the field can show an unsaved draft, so copy the public URL from the sharing panel after saving.

## Use the public link

To share the 3D experience, use **Growth** or **Scale**, select **3D Avatar** in **Widget Layout**, and save your configuration. You also need a generated widget integration for the selected website.

Open **3D Avatar Shareable Link**, check its status, and use **Copy** or **Open**. Follow [Avatar Sharing](https://docs.wowagent.ai/avatar-sharing.md) for activation, visitor call controls, and mobile home-screen saving.

## Change an existing username

Enter a new available username and save it with the button beside the field. Copy the updated URL from the sharing panel, test it, and update your social profiles, email links, bookmarks, and QR codes.

The previous username is no longer assigned to this assistant. Do not rely on the old URL redirecting to the new one. Changes to an existing assistant's username are recorded in [Activity Log](https://docs.wowagent.ai/support-and-activity.md#review-activity-log) with the previous username, new username, and person who made the change.

## If saving fails

| Message or symptom | What to do |
| - | - |
| Username is taken | Choose another name. Another assistant may have saved it after your availability check. |
| Username is reserved | Use a name that does not match a WOWagent website or portal route. |
| Invalid format | Check the length, allowed characters, and first and last characters. |
| Could not check availability | Check your connection and use the field's **Save** button to retry when available. |
| Main Save asks you to save the username | Use **Save** beside **Avatar Username** first, then save the rest of your settings. |
| Username is saved but no share URL appears | Generate the website's widget integration in [Integration Center](https://docs.wowagent.ai/integration-center.md), then return to the sharing tab. |
| Access or chatbot limit error | Check the selected workspace, website permissions, and [plan limits](https://docs.wowagent.ai/plans-credits-and-limits.md). |
