Install the WOWagent Chat Widget on WordPress, GTM, or Any Site
Add the WOWagent chat widget to your website using WordPress, Google Tag Manager, or your site’s main template, then verify it so live chat turns on.
The WOWagent chat widget is a small script that shows your AI assistant on your website. This page explains how to add the script on WordPress, through Google Tag Manager (GTM), or on a custom-built website, and how to verify it so live chat works.
Live chat does not appear on your website until the widget shows Verified in the Integration Center.
Add the script site-wide so it loads on every page, just before the closing </head> tag. Choose the option that matches how your website is built.

Custom Website
1
Open a header code plugin
Use a Header and Footer plugin, or a Custom HTML option, that adds code to every page.
2
Paste the script in the header
Paste the script into the site-wide header section.
3
Save and clear cache
Click Save, then clear your website cache and any CDN cache.
1
Create a Custom HTML tag
In GTM, create a new tag of type Custom HTML and paste the script.
2
Set the trigger to All Pages
Choose the All Pages trigger so the widget loads everywhere.
3
Submit and publish
Click Submit, then Publish the container.
4
Connect Tag Manager in WOWagent
In the Integration Center, connect the same GTM container (for example, GTM-XXXXXXX). If the container is wrong, WOWagent cannot detect the widget.
1
Open your main layout template
Open the main layout or template file that every page of your website uses.
2
Paste before the closing head tag
In code view, find the closing </head> tag and paste the script just above it.
3
Deploy and clear cache
Save or deploy the change, then clear your website cache and any CDN cache.
If your website is a single-page app (built with tools like React, Vue, or Next.js), also set up Page Re-initialization so the widget keeps working when visitors move between pages. See AI Navigation.
Go back to the Integration Center and click Verify on the Website Widget card. WOWagent opens your live website and checks for the script with your data-key.
2
Wait for the status to turn green
Wait 10 to 30 seconds. The card must show that the installation is detected and the status is Verified. Do not leave the page before it turns green.
3
Check your live website
Open your website in an incognito window. The chat bubble must appear in the bottom corner. Test that it opens and closes, and check it on mobile too.
Check that the script is on the correct website and that the data-key matches the selected website. Make sure the script is in the site-wide header, not on a single page.
Verified, but the bubble is not showing
Clear your website cache and CDN cache, then check again in an incognito window. Make sure Public widget status is ON in Chatbot Management.
The widget works for others but not for you
Turn off your ad blocker while testing. Ad blockers can hide the widget.
Installed with GTM, but not detected
Check that the tag uses the All Pages trigger, that the container is published, and that the same container is connected in the Integration Center.
The widget disappeared after a website update
Theme changes and redesigns often remove the script. Paste it again, then click Verify again.
Your website blocks outside scripts
If your website’s security settings block outside scripts, allow the WOWagent script in those settings and verify again.
If the issue continues, create a support ticket at https://portal.wowagent.ai/support-tickets. Include your website domain, how you installed the script, and a screenshot of the Website Widget card status.
